  1. I understand that environmental factors can significantly affect the accuracy of a weighing system. It is, therefore, critical to consider these forces when installing a weighing system for a particular application. Some of the environmental forces that can significantly lower the accuracy of a weighing system include vibration forces, wind loading, pressure differentials, large temperature changes, and shock loading.

    Whereas it is easier to control environmental forces in indoor settings, they become more problematic in outdoor applications. Wind loading mostly affects outdoor weighing systems. Low capacity weighing systems are also susceptible to wind loading. In both cases, the impact of the wind loading should be considered. Vibrations can introduce mechanical noise and significantly affect the accuracy of a weighing system. Minimizing vibrations helps to enhance the accuracy of the weighing system.

    Although small temperature changes have negligible effect on the performance of weighing systems, large temperature fluctuations can significantly lower the accuracy of a system. Pressure loading is a common problem in indoor weighing systems. For constant pressurization, the error is usually minimized by calibrating the weighing system.

    When various environmental forces are involved, it becomes more difficult to achieve high accuracy. Minimizing the error becomes even more challenging if the forces are not constant. How should this problem be approached?
