Rochester (NY), USA – Sweetwater Energy, a biotechnology company based in Rochester (NY), USA,  and AS Graanul Invest, Europe’s largest wood pellet producer, based in Estonia, will build a commercial-scale integrated biorefinery that will produce clean cellulosic sugars and highly pure lignin from 50,000 tons of local hardwood each year.

Hatch wins Contract for Definitive Feasibility Study on Rare Earths Project in Australia

Perth (WA), Australia – Arafura Resources Ltd. (ASX: ARU) has appointed Hatch Ltd. as Lead Engineering Study Manager for the Definitive Feasibility Study on Arafura’s 100%-owned Nolans Neodymium-Praseodymium Project in the Northern Territory, Australia. Arafura is planning to mine up to five million tonnes each year by open cut mining to produce 650,000 t of ROM ore as feed to a three-stage crushing circuit.

BHEL wins Order for 3×800 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant in Jharkhand, India

New Delhi, India – Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a Rs.11,700 Crore (approx. USD 1.7 Billion) order for setting up a 3×800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The order for setting up the 3×800 MW Patratu Super Thermal Power Station Expansion, Phase-I has been placed on BHEL by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL – a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. in Joint Venture with Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited).

Consortium signs Project Development Agreement for Waste-to-Chemistry Facility in Rotterdam

Montréal (QC), Canada – A consortium of companies comprising Air Liquide, AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals, Enerkem and the Port of Rotterdam has signed a project development agreement covering initial investments in an advanced waste-to-chemistry facility in Rotterdam. The facility will be the first of its kind in Europe to provide a sustainable alternative solution for non-recyclable wastes, converting waste plastics and other mixed wastes into new raw materials.

FLSmidth wins fourth Copper Concentrator Order in Kazakhstan, including Mills, Crushers & Conveyors

Valby, Denmark – KAZ Minerals in Kazakhstan has selected FLSmidth as their technology partner for a new, 75,000 tonnes per day copper concentrator line at Aktogay. FLSmidth’s scope of supply includes the key machines, installation supervision, commissioning, start-up and ramp-up support. The total order value is more than USD 100 million.

RINL and KIOCL sign MOU for Iron Ore Pellet Plant Joint Venture

Mangalore, India — Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Lt. (RINL), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd.  (KIOCL, under the Ministry of Steel) have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 6th January, 2018 at Mangalore, India, to set up a Joint Venture Company for Pellet Plant Project in the adjacent to the plant premises of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant at Visakhapatnam, India.

Kamigumi establishes Company for Development of a Bulk Terminal in Myanmar

Hyogo, Japan — Japanese logistics company Kamigumi have announced to establish a terminal operating company named International Bulk Terminal (Thilawa) Co., Ltd. (IBTT) mainly focusing on the handling of grain, feed and other bulk cargo at the Thilawa region of Yangon port in Myanmar as a joint venture with Lluvia Ltd. of Myanmar. The new terminal to be build will cover an area of 80,000 square meters and is scheduled for completion in April 2019.
