By A. Minkin, A. Jungk and T. Hontscha – When the Arch Western Coal Skyline Mine decided to replace the old belt of its long distance BC-8 pipe conveyor, a new belt had to be designed to be suitable to the existing routing. In addition, a special installation procedure had to be developed to minimise downtime during the belt installation and commissioning. Wolfurt, Austria – The RopeCon system which transports platinum ore from Booysendal South to the existing processing plant has recently gone into operation. The South African mining company Booysendal Platinum (Pty) Limited, a subsidiary of Northam Platinum Limited, is relying on technology by Doppelmayr for their expansion project at the Booysendal concession. Every hour, at least 909 tons of material will be transported over a distance of approx. 4.8 km through hilly terrain. München, Germany – In many parts of the world, ore content in deposits is decreasing. The result is that more and more overburden has to be transported to receive a certain quantity of minerals. That puts equipment to the test, particularly the conveyors. However, with advancements in drive technology, such as the Siemens Direct Conveyor Drive System, mining companies can still keep availability high – as well as operate economically. Beckum, Germany – At bauma, which will take place in Munich, Germany from 8 to 14 April, BEUMER Group will provide information on their efficient transport solutions for the mining industry, among other areas. Overland conveyors and Pipe Conveyors transport various raw materials over long distances and often through rough terrain. This is generally faster, more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly than trucking. Continue reading BEUMER Group at bauma 2019: Reliable across rough Terrain
Beckum, Germany – After the first overland conveyor of 12.5 km was put into operation in 2009, BEUMER Group client Yadong Cement also commissioned a conveyor line from the transfer station to the plant. The construction and commissioning of the expansion started in 2014, and just less than two years later, the second part with the 13.6 long overland conveyor was put into operation.
Runcorn, United Kingdom – Engineering and services provider Bilfinger UK has won a multi-million pound contract with Aggregate Industries to design, supply, and install new electrical infrastructure at the Bardon Hill quarry extension project. The deal forms part of a significant scheme at the Leicestershire site, which also includes installation of a new primary crusher and 4 km of overland conveyors.
Somerset (NJ), USA – BEUMER Corporation’s Conveying and Loading Division has been awarded a contract to design, supply and install a nearly four-mile overland conveying system at Knight Hawk Coal’s Prairie Eagle Mine in Illinois. The curved trough overland conveyor system will carry coal from Knight Hawk’s new underground mine portal to its main coal preparation plant at Prairie Eagle.
Beckum, Germany – Sichuan Yadong Cement has been relying on a 12.5 km overland conveyor from BEUMER Group in order to convey limestone from their quarry to their silo. When constructed in 2009 it was the longest belt conveying system in BEUMER history (The company installed a longer system in 2016). In a second project BEUMER installed two additional overland conveyors, with an overall length of 13.7 kilometres, transporting limestone to the cement plant. Unlike the first project, the task here was to build the conveyor across inhabited areas. Noise emission limitations set forth by the government also needed to be considered.
Valby, Denmark – KAZ Minerals in Kazakhstan has selected FLSmidth as their technology partner for a new, 75,000 tonnes per day copper concentrator line at Aktogay. FLSmidth’s scope of supply includes the key machines, installation supervision, commissioning, start-up and ramp-up support. The total order value is more than USD 100 million.
