Beckum, Germany – Sichuan Yadong Cement has been relying on a 12.5 km overland conveyor from BEUMER Group in order to convey limestone from their quarry to their silo. When constructed in 2009 it was the longest belt conveying system in BEUMER history (The company installed a longer system in 2016). In a second project BEUMER installed two additional overland conveyors, with an overall length of 13.7 kilometres, transporting limestone to the cement plant. Unlike the first project, the task here was to build the conveyor across inhabited areas. Noise emission limitations set forth by the government also needed to be considered.

Rheinberg, Germany — In May 2017 AUMUND Fördertechnik GmbH won the order for three drag chain conveyors with capacities from 7.5 to 200 t/h for discharge of limestone, gypsum and pozzolan for the new cement plant in Sherabad, Uzbekistan. In October 2017 an order for another LOUISE type drag chain conveyor for discharge of clinker dust rounded off the package. The complete package being put together for the customer Almalyk Mining and Processing (AGMK) amounts, however, to more than 250 t of machinery.
Paulden, AZ, USA – A state-of-the-art cement plant has resolved material accumulation issues in its limestone silo by combining high-efficiency cleaning techniques with powerful, strategically-placed air cannons to prevent further build-up. The Drake Cement facility ten miles north of Paulden, AZ was experiencing clogging issues on a weekly basis, forcing maintenance personnel to spend up to 12 hours to clear the blockage using tools and compressed air. During damp weather, the problem worsened, and at times the large structure would fill in as little as two hours, forcing operators to use CO2 blasting tubes every 15 to 30 minutes. Technicians from Martin Engineering were able to clear the blockage on a short-notice visit, and then revised the site’s air cannon system to prevent the issue from recurring.
