By D. Rose – Cement is the most commonly used building material worldwide. Its manufacture is challenging due to ever stricter environmental regulations and cost pressures because of large overcapacities. Cement manufacturers need support with systems and machines which, adapted to the market, increase the efficiency of their production and, thus, their competitiveness. Hoeng, Denmark – A pendulum bucket elevator is the obvious choice for gentle and flexible conveying of bulk products, but when it comes to fine powders and very abrasive products this is still a challenge. Simatek Bulk Systems introduced a new Forced Feeding System which – in combination with other initiatives – makes pendulum bucket elevators very suited for conveying complex powders with poor flow properties, as well as being fragile, abrasive or explosive. Rheinberg, Germany – Industry has many choices today for conveyor chains. Most available chains are designed for a certain strength rating and expected wear life. However, there is much more to chain design than these basic parameters. AUMUND, being a conveyor specialist, has designed their chains to meet the demand of certain heavy production industries, based upon more than 40 years of experience.

Tegelen, Netherlands – Certain situations in powders, pellet and granulate handling require raw materials to be fed back vertically into the production process. Poeth has developed its new C-Conveyor specifically for these situations: it optimises the production capacity of recirculating conveying systems and minimises the risk of contamination.
Beckum, Germany – BEUMER Group opened a new sales office in the Ruhr area of Germany to support its customers with an even more comprehensive range of services. From this sales office “West”, BEUMER Customer Support will handle worldwide retrofitting and modernisation projects, for example on currently operating conveying systems like bucket elevators and clinker conveyors, including those from other suppliers.
Adlington, UK — Having been awarded the contract earlier in 2017 Fairport Engineering has now delivered some twelve drag link conveyors and five bucket elevators to a new client in Nigeria. These pieces of equipment and various ancillaries such as actuated valves, chute-work and spares will form the key mechanical units in a challenging project to increase wheat mill production capacity from 65 to some 200 t/h.
Rheinberg, Germany — In May 2017 AUMUND Fördertechnik GmbH won the order for three drag chain conveyors with capacities from 7.5 to 200 t/h for discharge of limestone, gypsum and pozzolan for the new cement plant in Sherabad, Uzbekistan.
